Abracro was founded on August 31, 2005 and was structured to begin its activities in 2006, when it brought together a small group of six companies. They discussed the sector's critical points and sought solutions from the regulatory bodies. A non-profit organization, Abracro gradually gained a foothold at Anvisa and Conep due to the seriousness and ethics with which it acted.
Today, this recognition can be seen not only in the openness of these bodies' agendas to the association's agenda. Abracro's work has become such a reference that it is consulted before new standards are published.
Abracro's growth
In 2010, the company underwent an important process of administrative and, in 2011, managerial professionalization. It jumped from six to 16 member companies.
Also in 2011, Abracro went to the newspapers and other media to demystify clinical research in Brazil. It succeeded in impressing on the population what clinical research actually is, its procedures and concepts, and its benefits. But, above all, it put an end to insecurity and showed the rigidity of the rules and processes that protect volunteers who are willing to take part in research.
In the same year, it launched the expert panel "Guaranteeing Access to Medicines after Clinical Trials". The publication (in Portuguese, English and Spanish) contains the opinions of professionals and organizations involved in clinical research on the various points of this discussion.
Abracro Award: a milestone
In 2013, Abracro held the first edition of the Abracro Award. This initiative aims to stimulate clinical research, reveal new methods and promote professionals in the field. The award recognizes the most innovative work. Since then, three editions have been held.
One more action to promote dialog with the government and society on clinical research in Brazil. In 2014, Abracro became a founding member of the Clinical Research Alliance, a movement created in conjunction with various public and private segments of science and innovation.
Abracro-Analytics
From 2016 to 2019, Abracro invested in technology and launched two important tools. The Abracro-Analytics website is dedicated to regulatory deadlines for analyzing clinical studies, among other relevant information for the sector. Access is free to any user. Another platform was centrosdepesquisaclinica.org.bra portal for all the Clinical Research Centers in Brazil.
In 2017, he joined the Clinical Research Group of the All Together Against Cancer Movement. She also started holding workshops, such as DDCM - A complete package and the 1st Multidisciplinary Clinical Research Workshop.
